A hallmark of successful governance is that it addresses the needs of different kinds of owners and adapts to changing circumstances, so that the family and their assets thrive. In our work with families, we:

• Provide a systematic process for developing the necessary principles (including values and vision), governance structures, policies, and processes. Families need these elements as a foundation for fruitful discussions and decision-making regarding shared assets and/or wealth structures.

• Guide the development of effective boards for the governance of businesses, family offices, private trust companies, and philanthropic foundations, as well as shareholder assemblies and family councils for family governance.

• Assist families in engaging members as owners and cultivating future leaders in the work of governance.

• Help families find the optimal balance between confidentiality and transparency to foster trust and a sense of agency.
