Fredda Herz Brown, PhD, Senior Consultant at Relative Solutions and co-author of “The Family Wealth Sustainability Toolkit”, will be presenting the 2014 Family Firm Institute (FFI) “Best Doctoral Dissertation Award” at this year’s FFI Global Conference. This award, sponsored by Relative Solutions, is recognition to encourage outstanding academic achievement in the field of family business study.

The 27th Annual FFI Global Conference, “Family Enterprise: Complexities, Constituencies and Constellations”, will be held in Washington, DC from October 8-11, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill. The conference will be attended by more than 400 advisors, consultants, academics, researchers and family enterprise members from more than 40 countries.

Institute for Private Investors Fall Forum

Fredda Herz Brown will be facilitating a roundtable at the IPI Fall Forum in NYC on October 7th, 2014 on “Governance Made Simple Part II: Does Your Governance Fit Your Family?” This class will follw Fredda’s lunch session on “Family Governance”. Some of the items that will be discussed are:

Fran Lotery will be moderating a panel on “How Sustainable Do We Want to Be?” at the Southeastern Family Office Forum in Atlanta, GA on September 17th, 2014. The panel will be addressing:

Either we’re together or we’re not…does it have to be all or nothing? What fits for our family? Successfully managing the complexity that is a part of combining family, business and significant wealth can challenge cohesion for even the closest of families.

This panel will discuss how they have addressed the question of sustainability—the ways they have managed generational transitions and expectations, legacy and leadership, decision-making, and family dynamics.
